#4: hayburn crescent

no, this cat didn't independently look that regal. my friend jennifer was getting its attention behind my poised body. i love the shape of the plants next to the bars. shame about the flash. boo.

#3: dowanhill street

it was 21°c yesterday and glasgow's people (and animals) were out soaking the.. oh, approximately 36.5 hours of sun scotland will be allocated this spring/summer. i was walking with a friend to sup cocktails somewhere shaded and came across the fine specimen of cuteness you see above perfectly posing in all her sun-dabbled glory. c'mon baby, love the camera, love the camera!

#2: hayburn park

another cat from my street. this cat is a beaut. she's followed us up to the front door many a time and darted inside the flat to hide under our beds, teasing us as we try desperately to get her the fuck out. like any true glaswegian, she got all lush at the first sight of any amount of sun today, and was rolling around on the pavement like a big slut before i took this picture. goddammit woman, don't be shy.

this is a wee project. i want to photograph all of the cats i meet on my wanderings around this city (and, hopefully, other cities) and say hello to. i want to see how many individual cats i can meet in 365 days. or something. and i'm also interested to see if any other glasgow people recognise the kitties.

part of the reason i am doing this is because, apparently, the area of glasgow i live in, hyndland, is 'characterised by its famously large population of domestic cats'. who knew? (and also an equal number of - ha! - young bourgeois bohemians. aye right. who wrote this, john smeaton?) this particular fella is on my very street. it's a poor picture, because motherfucker wouldn't let me stroke it. does he not know that first impressions count for everything on the internet? fool. the flash went off and he shat his pants and fled off. oh well. better luck next time, cat-watchers.

experiment

this is an experiment (edit later, asshole).
